Chicago Police Supt. David Brown was accused Monday of presiding over “the most dangerous city in the country” as City Council members from across the city demanded that he hire more police officers — not just fill the 1,000 existing vacancies.
At a City Council budget hearing, some members vented their anger about the rise in homicides, shootings and carjackings from last year’s troubling levels that has left their constituents afraid, no matter where they live.
“I cannot remember a time in my lifetime that it has been as violent as it is right now. … Most people I know feel that our city is out of control when it comes to safety,” said Far North Side Ald. Harry Osterman.
Southwest Side Ald. Marty Quinn (13th) reiterated what he said during a July 2 hearing on summer violence: Chicago needs to hire 2,000 police officers — twice as many as the number of vacancies.
“The constituents of the 13th Ward want to see more police. They’re growing frustrated by paying more taxes and not seeing enough,” Quinn said.
“If we have to hire more police, we should go ahead and do that,” he added. Otherwise, “people are just gonna move out of the city.”

It's blame shifting, plain and simple.
The council probably wants more police without funding them.
Any police officer who is found to be enforcing the law, will be punished. Good luck getting that crime rate down.
They just need to put up a few George Floyd memorials...

Other than the ones that were disciplined and dismissed from other police forces and shouldn’t be cops...
Hiring 10,000 more will do nothing except possibly provide more targets. Virtually nothing is prosecuted there and what ever sneaks through is pled down to time served.
By hiring criminals to provide police protection, the program combines restorative justice with reducing the number of criminals/inmates by giving them a badge & authority.
Not to mention the amazingly huge reduction in the number of “illegal guns” on the streets.
The problem isn’t the cops it’s the Democrats. Morons.
Couldn’t possibly have to do with the Council and Mayor Lightloafers, eh?

Chicago could hire Afghan refugees, but most would rather go back to Kabul because it is both safer and the Taliban are more supportive that the Chicago mayor and council.
And get paid for a bit of the ultra-violence.
