55 through Wyoming took for-ever.
Only myself on the way up as I wanted to see what the car could give me. Doing 160 in stretches and the car drove like it was on rails.
Meanwhile, cars were passing me like I was standing still!!
LOl. Wyoming feels like forever at 80mph.
I love Wyoming but I=80 has to be one of the most boring of drives.

Ach so. Kein spas mehr on die Autobahn.
Remember doing a 160 mile round tripper from Munich to Regensburg in my buddy’s new 396 Camaro. He had bought it with his re-enlistment bonus. That was one wild trip.
When I was in the UK (early to mid 60’s) portions of the highways had no speed limit and when I took my VW bug (1962) into Ipswich I was pedal to the metal almost the entire distance of 12 miles. Managed to get the thing up to 72 mph or close to 80 if I had the wind at my back.
I-70 in central/western Kansas is not much of a picnic either. I will say, when I was at Ft. Riley, the KS state troopers were pretty lenient. If you stayed under triple digits and weren’t driving like an @$$hole, they pretty much seemed to let you go.
Been there. Summer of 1971. Very difficult to stay out of the way of the Porsches, Ferraris, etc. when you are driving a 1963 VW bug.
There already have been dynamic speed limits on parts of the Autobahn for years. Not to mention traffic jams.

My German isn’t that good. But I think this sentence is a little off.
“I got caught in one of the old 55 speed traps by helicopter. Along with the other 50 or so cars being processed by about 10 troopers.”
When they say “it’s not about the money”...............
Nothing you can’t justify in the name of “Safety”.
Big fun. You were the guy passing me doing a mere 85 mph.
My vision is so bad now, I don’t even drive on freeways. Glad I did so much traveling back then.
I’ve been passed doing 120. My fast driving was limited to the wide open freeway areas so not a lot of cars around.
Maybe it’s a typo. 80 mph = about 130 kph.
How long does it take to go 130 km at 130 kph?

(Math is hard)
No more fun fun fun on the autobahn
I’ve driven about 180-200 KMHR on the Autobahn one time. In a rental car. And occasionally a Mercedes or a Porsche would pass me like I was parked.
If you want to drive fast you have to go out a 3 AM and far away from population centers.
I’ve been on the autobahn. Its a crazy ride.
