A Republican Oklahoma state senator is launching a primary challenge to Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.).

Nathan Dahm announced his campaign on Wednesday in a video drawing close parallels between former President Trump and himself. Recalling his narrow win in a 2012 Republican state Senate runoff, he said that both he and Trump “put in the work” to overcome long political odds.

“What drew me to Donald Trump initially was his belief that he could pull off the impossible,” Dahm says in the video. “When he first came down the escalator, he faced insurmountable odds. But Trump put in the work and shocked the establishment and accomplished amazing things.”

Does Oklahoma have top-two runoffs in primaries if no candidate gets a majority of the vote? Or is this yet another “split the challenger vote” candidate to protect the incumbent?

I don’t know about OK runoff laws.

But Dahm isn’t a splitter. The first guy to announce against Langford was Jackson Lehmeyer, a local pastor. I don’t think he was going anywhere against Langford. But he got the backing of the head of the Republican party in OK because he wasn’t Langford.

Dahm is a more experienced candidate against Langford.

Which challenger is the RINO in drag, or are they both imposters?

Jackson Lehmeyer’s main issue is vote integrity, which is where Langford failed on Jan 6. He’s close with Clay Clark who leads the reawakening tours.

He understands that the staff in DC perpetuate the deep state and would bring a new set as Senator.

A three or more person primary does nothing but benefit Lankford.

The only possible way to split the vote for Republicans in Oklahoma is for a conservative to run as an independent. A friend of mine did just that in 2010 when incidentally Langford was the Republican nominee for Congress for the first time.

Independents don’t even have primaries but go straight to the general election .

Anyway the Republican Party feared he would split the vote giving the win to the Democrat and talked my friend into dropping out.

My family in Oklahoma think lankford is a joke. Not all that bright, spends more time touting his religious affiliations and little time actually working for the people of his state. If the challenger mounts a credible campaign my family there says lankford could be gone.

I am certainly going to vote for one of his challengers. My buddy that ran for Congress as an independent against him would have been a better choice at the time as a Naval Academy graduate and a Navy Seal in Desert Storm and really sharp guy. But an independent has little chance of winning in Oklahoma.
