Washington (CNN)GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, one of just two Republicans on the select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection, brushed off her GOP detractors in a new interview, stating pointedly that former President Donald Trump "doesn't believe in the rule of law."
"Those who think that by ignoring Trump, he will go away, have been proven wrong," Cheney told CBS News' "60 Minutes" in an interview that aired Sunday.
"And in my view, the American people, they deserve better than having to choose between what I think are the really disastrous policies of Joe Biden -- in a whole range of areas, really bad for our economy," she said. "From a national security perspective, what's happened, what he's done in Afghanistan: very dangerous policies for the country. But the alternative cannot be a man who doesn't believe in the rule of law, and who violated his oath of office."
She also took a swipe at House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, calling his actions after January 6 "unforgivable."
"What he's done is embrace Donald Trump. And if I were doing what he's doing, I would be deeply ashamed of myself," Cheney said.

Go away, Liz-ard.
What, and Biden DOES?
Oh, I see. Doesn’t believe in the “rule of law” like...enforcing border regulations?
I can’t listen to or read her spew. Did she happen to give any examples?
How tone deaf can you be? You’ve got a tough primary and you go on 60 MINUTES to whine and put your story out?
Stick a fork in her, she’s done. Maybe she can move to NY ad run as a Dem? They are quite welcoming to Neoconservative warmongers these days . . .
Difficult to believe that there are still people in Wyoming that still support that lying, cheating, stealing, flip flopping, swamp dwelling c#nt.
Thats all she has is to run against Trump.
The truly desperate last gasp of the Bush-Cheney political power base.
You can disregard any other achievements of Trump’s - his destruction of the Bush and Clinton political dynasties alone was worthy of getting him on Mt. Rushmore.
“We need to go on a hunting trip,”
She doesn’t understand the rule of holes.
Liz Cheney’s Rule of Law apparently includes duffel bags of ballots being stuffed into machines (as shown on camera).
She doesn’t care about Wyoming, this is about her being the GOPe standard-bearer in 2024. And there won’t be 17 people running this time, I believe Liz is already the ‘anointed one’.
President Trump is the most law-and-order President we have had in 30 years. It’s just that he believes the law applies to everyone, not just the peons, and he believes that the laws apply as written.
She’s following the Dem’s lead and calling the 1/6 protests an insurrection.
Yep.
Ditto for Gavin Newsom - he couldn't fight the recall on his own dismal record so everything had to be about Trump.
And, in California, with its profoundly stupid voting population, it worked and worked well.
I believe Cheney knows she will lose her next election, and she’s burnishing her credentials for a fat position afterward. For these people it’s always about the MONEY.
If the GOP had a spine she would be expelled and told to run as the Dem she is in 2022. Instead she will fight and lose the GOP primary, then kneecap the successful candidate, the way the GOP did to Murkowski’s opponent when she lost the Alaska primary. Dems will abandon their own candidate to support Cheney just to give conservatives the finger. Having a high profile quisling within the GOP caucus is more valuable to the Dems than another nameless Dem backbencher.
Ain’t nepotism wonderful.
He was possibly the ONLY one in DC who did follow the law!
