Mark Steyn has an article which explains that there are a vast number of legitimate topics that no one is allowed to talk about. These are “subterranean topics” that can be whispered about, but not openly discussed.
The only topic — the only one — which has been cleared (by China) for open discussion is Climate Change. So no matter what seems to be going on in the world, the topic is always Climate Change. Because it’s so utterly pointless and therefore safe.
