70-79% of 65+ population has hypertension, the #2 comorbidity for Covid deaths.
So there’s generally no point in saying the people had something else wrong with them. If they were over 65, they had something else wrong with them. There’s really no point in mentioning comorbidity if everyone old has one.

It is _way_ more complicated than that.
Many of these folks had _multiple comorbidities, and they were _most_ likely to die from Covid.
The economic and professional incentives were to attribute the deaths to Covid--and they worked.
