Republican Representative Michael McCaul called it a "disgrace" that the U.S. government failed to evacuate USAGM journalists from Afghanistan before officially ending military operations in the country.
"It is absolutely disgraceful the U.S. State Department claimed they evacuated their local employees when in reality they abandoned hundreds of USAGM journalists and their families," McCaul, the House Foreign Affairs Committee ranking Republican, wrote in a statement Tuesday.
The U.S. Agency for Global Media, or USAGM, is an independent federal agency that encompasses several news networks, including the Voice of America and Radio Azadi.
In his statement, McCaul estimated that roughly 500 USAGM employees and their families remain in Afghanistan. It said many of them were given assurances by the Biden administration that they would be evacuated

When asked about the USAGM journalists in a briefing Tuesday, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said, "We are going to extraordinary and all appropriate lengths to bring them to safety as quickly as we can."
Days before the end of U.S. military evacuations from Kabul, dozens of lawmakers urged Biden to ensure safe passage for hundreds of USAGM journalists.
Biden, Harris and the appointed military leaders were put in place for such a time as this. They are not running the show.
One would think the CIA would take care of their own.

I’ll ask the obvious. For a government employed media company so anonymous that they had to explain who they were, why do they need hundreds of “journalists?”
That said, they are Americans. Move heaven and earth to get them out.
I have to ask - weren’t they warned to leave? If I had been there and was warned I’d be on the first escape outta there.

I Don’t know what to make of this article from a publication called “Washington monthly”. It’s homepage looks extremely left-wing. One of its articles with a picture is titled “Trump assembles worst cabinet ever”. That is really old “news”.

Sorry, I misunderstood. You were referring to the link in #7. Not sure it makes any difference whether they’re left or right. The fact is these people are stuck in Afghanistan
They are a pre-WW2 operation as well as Cold War. It is how our side gets our message out to nations citizens in not so friendly countries. Voice of America. I can understand some secrecy being in place. People used to understand what behind the Iron Curtain meant. Now they think it's an X-Ray term :>}
