IMO, China is after the electric car battery market for one. Those batteries rely on Lithium, which is a rare element found plentiful in Northern Afghan.
The Takiban desperately need one thing: a way to pay and feed a bunch of people whose only work skill is fighting.
If China picks one group for funding, they will go out and exterminate everyone who is not useful to China’s goals.
China has been accused of committing crimes against humanity and possibly genocide against the Uyghur population and other mostly-Muslim ethnic groups in the north-western region of Xinjiang.
Human rights groups believe China has detained more than one million Uyghurs against their will over the past few years in a large network of what the state calls "re-education camps", and sentenced hundreds of thousands to prison terms.
There is also evidence that Uyghurs are being used as forced labour and of women being forcibly sterilised. Some former camp detainees have also alleged they were tortured and sexually abused.
The US is among several countries to have accused China of committing genocide in Xinjiang. The leading human rights groups Amnesty and Human Rights Watch have published reports accusing China of crimes against humanity.
So what is Slo-Joe going to do?
If Afghanistan was never stable enough over the past 20 years to exploit its mineral deposits then how will China send its mining companies in? The Taliban may have Kabul but there are at least two insurgent groups running right now. And one of them, the Taliban, is not going to treat people who oppose it kindly.
Belt and road.
They are also playing footsie with Russia, and some say that the Chechens embedded with them are GRU spetsnaz and GRU agents. Ironically, the Taliban is banned in both China and Russia.
No need to read further.
Does ISIS like China ? LOL
