To: Leaning Right

I was considering that. Would a rogue Taliban fighter or cell risk pissing off the mullahs by exposing them, or is it just ingrained that they can do anything to the infidels? My understanding is that there’s an unspoken code of “honor” among them (Pashtunwali?).

From what I understand, that code demands that they respect visitors, and not harm them. But no such protection is offered to foes who are fleeing or have surrendered.

An example of that is what happened after the British evacuated Kabul in 1842. The Afghanis promised the British safe passage. And they also promised to look after the wounded Britishers who had to be left behind.

As soon as the British left the Afghanis killed all the wounded soldiers. And they attacked the retreating British column. Only one single British soldier made it back to friendly lines.
