How did it take five years to investigate, arrest, try, convivt and finally imprison her?

Looks like the indictment was in September 2019. Usual pretrial delays, then it looks like it got caught up in the Covid delays. Trial was delayed a few times. She copped a plea in January 2021. So no trial. Covid probably drew things out a year.
It’s been my view that the US Attys won’t move a routine case until the Statute of Limitations is about to run. Best deals are usually pre-indictment.

The wheels of justice are rarely greased to move fast. There was a murder in my county four years ago that has yet to come to trail even though they caught the killer a couple of days after it happened.
