Believe it or not the far-left socialists hate Cuomo, too moderate, actually prefered GOP control of state Senate to restain the far left, plus they never forgave him and his father for calling Ed Koch a homo.
My sister-in-law (from Rhode Island) used to say that “the best thing about New York City is the Tappan Zee Bridge”, i.e. it allowed you to completely bypass NYC on your way to Rhode Island and other points east.
During my 2004 visit to Vietnam, I was surprised to hear all of our interpreters and other English-speaking people we met always refer to “Ho Chi Minh City” as “Saigon”.
Also, many locals still refer to Mumbai as Bombay, and Chennai as Madras.
There are even rumors of “The Washington Football Team” still being called “the Redskins” and the Cleveland “Guardians” being called the “Indians”!

Good grief. Well I suppose Democrat motorists are actually stupid enough to get confused if the directions say "Mario M Cuomo Bridge" but the signs only say "Mario Cuomo Bridge."
