I have never understood why politicians get to name such structures after themselves. Unless they pay for it themselves, name the bridge or whatever after the taxpayers who paid for it.

Just paint the thing gold and put a gigantic letter T on it. You know, for “Tappan Zee”...

Finally, something I can agree with the dems about. Bring back the great historical name.

I’ve said many times that Mario had so many skeletons in his closet, he would never run for President!

Read up about the lieutenant governor (Hochul).
She is to the right of most of the Republican Party.

According to the wiki article it says the new bridge is only 160 FEET apart from the old Tappan Zee. Seems extremely close but I'm not an engineer, or even play one while watching tv.

Good thing they chose to rename that Queensborough bridge after 2007 when the tv show King of Queens ended. The tv show theme song mentions the Queensborough bridge by name. It would ruin the song if they had to squeeze in, "Ed Koch Queensborough bridge tonight". Here's the theme song:
My eyes are gettin' weary,
My back is gettin' tight,
I'm sittin' here in traffic,
On the Queensborough bridge tonight,
But I don't care cuz all I wanna do,
Is cash my check and drive right home to you,
Cuz baby all my life I will be driving home to you

How about father of the sexual predator bridge or father of the murdered elderly bridge

Cancel culture finally does something useful if they nuke the Cuomo name.

At least a decade ago. It still ranks as one of the worst bridges in NYC. I crossed it last night

When they built the replacement bridge. The old bridge crossing The Tappan Zee was The Tappan Zee Bridge. The new, replacement bridge, was named the Mario Cuomo Bridge over the objection of pretty much every living creature in the State of New York, except Governor Senior Killer.

Naming bridges, highways, etc., after dead politicians is an old practice. Look at Kentucky as an example, where the former toll roads were renamed after various politicians. Many states name overpasses or stretches of highway after a soldier or police officer who died in the line of duty. Nevertheless, people still refer to those highway stretches as “Highway 12”, “Interstate 39”, or whatever. A classic example is in Manhattan, where the commonly used term for the Avenue of the Americas is Sixth Avenue, which was numbered as such in the 19th Century but renamed in the 20th Century in honor of Pan-American ideals and principles.

It is the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Cuomo should be erased form all memory.
Com’on, New York, you can do better than those thugs!!

One of the few Dutch names remaining. I don’t mind Italian names, but no Cuomos!
