When I lived in the region 1980-1981....I thought it was one of the best ‘large’ cities in the US. I talked to someone who grew up there in the late 1990s, and they got to the drug/crime trends, with the prosecutor team and judges just doing enough marginal work to ‘fill’ a square. Maybe they felt they were doing the public a favor....but that drug trend has hit the maximum point where locals aren’t trusting in the city authorities to fix the mess.

Finally. If Jenny had been shot a while back, the PD would have been flush with money but since it was only gangbangers, street thugs and radicals, and innocent citizens, she didn’t give a damn and only gave them “bupkis” (small change).

During the Seattle riots in (I think) May 2020, Mayor Jenny, the Police Chief, and at least one assistant to the Mayor, "accidentally" deleted all their emails during the chaos.

Too late. If I were a cop in Seattle or any other leftist chithole, I’d do the bare minimum, only respond to 911 calls and just wait til I was eligible for my pension. Then leave as soon as I was.

Police in NYC have been content to “work” there without doing their jobs for decades; I suspect it is more likely that Seattle cops left because they were expected to go out and serve as live targets for the trash.
Maybe cities will review their contracts with cops that require so many to retire with full benefits before reaching 50 years old; those contracts burden these places with massive costs for people who retired decades earlier...
