I suspect that he may not have had his dump body level with the frame ...

How much wind noise would that create, and how blitzed was the driver not to hear it?

Dump bed was definitely pretty far up.
Wind noise may not have been a factor if the windows were up with the AC and stereo going. The HANDLING and RIDE of the truck should have been a dead giveaway that something wasn’t kosher.
Sucks to be him. If he owned the truck he has to replace it and probably won’t be able to afford the insurance. If he was an employee he probably gets fired and never gets a job driving again IF he gets to keep his licence.

That’s a surprisingly common error - there’s lots of videos of that happening on Youtube.

That doesn’t look like six feet of offset to me, unless that guy at the other end of the bridge is about 12 feet tall.

This same thing happened in my hometown where a dump truck with the cargo bed still in the up position ran into, and brought down, one of those pedestrian crossing bridges. No one was hurt but they had to get a new bridge.
