My theory is the more good candidates we have the higher turnout to vote yes on recall

Nice kid. Wonder how long he’ll remain elected in Sacramento now that all the deranged SF refugees and immigrants are buying houses there.
Think he’s a regional candidate, like Kevin Faulconer.
It’s going to take a lot to dislodge the Pelosi/Brown mafia candidate known as Newsom. I don’t use the word mafia in jest either. These are seriously bad people. Owning the governorship means hundreds of millions to them. French Laundry dinners aren’t cheap, you know?
The vote will come down to who wins the LA basin. A non-white Republican? Just might. Schwarzenegger won because, well...he was Schwarzenegger. And in LA, you’re either somebody or you are NOBODY.
So Elder is a bit of a somebody, and of course...he’s black. That will go a long way, but mostly it will immunize him...up to a point.
Faulconer should have the inside track as a big city mayor who’s actually a RINO. But that won’t immunize him, he’s still a WHITE (gasp!) Waciss Republican (white democrats are never waciss, right?).
Elder uses the Rat tactics against them; we’ll see if he can get the name recognition statewide to win. Faulconer and Kiley are no better known statewide, being regional names.
