An Indiana police officer was gunned down in an ambush outside an FBI office on Wednesday, authorities said.
Greg Ferency, a detective with the Terre Haute Police Department, was shot around 2:15 p.m. outside a federal office behind the Vigo County Courthouse, the Tribune-Star said.
A federal agent opened fire and hit the alleged shooter, the publication said, citing an FBI statement released Wednesday night.

Sounds like there’s a lot more to the story than we will ever see.
The detective was on assignment with the FBI. Could have been a CI or undercover investigation that riled the wrong person.

The suspect was able to drive himself to the hospital and underwent surgery at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was later taken into custody. Police can not yet say if the suspect was familiar with Ferency. The FBI is also not identifying the suspect at this point.

Drove himself to the hospital? Didn't flee, didn't unleash a hail of bullets as return fire?
Just saying - sounds white to me. Might have been a domestic affair thing, I can imagine someone shooting their wife's lover behaving like that.

I would guess he was working with the FBI on the Terre Haute Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).
Not to mention behind the courthouse. Someone making a statement.

Well, at least they used “himself” instead of “their self” so we know the suspect is a male.

In that case he wouldn’t be targeting Islamic, Antifa or BLM terrorists.
If the shooter is in the same profession as the 6 January Ashli Babbitt shooter, the authorities might be reluctant to disclose the motive for the shooting.

And then what did the federal agent do? Lean against a tree and watch the guy drive off then go back to his cubicle and start the paper work? Should have shot him again again then handcuff the corpse.
