Supreme Court Upholds Arizona Voter Restrictions, Spelling Trouble For DOJ Georgia ‘Voter Rights’ Lawsuit
The Daily Wire ^ | July 1, 2021 | Emily Zanotti

The United States Supreme Court ruled, Thursday, that two “Republican-backed ballot restrictions” in the state of Arizona do not violate the Voter Rights Act of 1965, opening the door for voter restriction measures nationwide, and spelling trouble for the Department of Justice’s lawsuit, announced earlier this week, challenging new measures just passed in Georgia.

“The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday endorsed two Republican-backed ballot restrictions in Arizona that a lower court found had disproportionately burdened Black, Latino, and Native American voters, handing a defeat to voting rights advocates and Democrats who had challenged the measures,” Reuters reported. “The 6-3 ruling, with the court’s conservative justices in the majority, held that the restrictions on early ballot collection by third parties and where absentee ballots may be cast did not violate the Voting Rights Act, a landmark 1965 federal law that prohibits racial discrimination in voting.”

“Preventing fraud is not “voter restrictions.””

Sure it is — just as border controls are “anti-immigrant”. In both cases, the adjective “illegal” is invisible.

Good.

My father lives in Lake Havasu and he’s ticked off about Maricopa County shenanigans.

If you really want to piss him off, say the name “Mark Kelly.” He’ll turn beat red in about 5 seconds.

“Fraud is a real risk that accompanies mail-in voting even if Arizona had the good fortune to avoid it. Election fraud has had serious consequences in other States. For example, the North Carolina Board of Elections invalidated the results of a 2018 race for a seat in the House of Representatives””””

The kill shot, that’s what that is.

It means that the Senate and house races could be over turned.

They need to get rid of any voting machines.

This boomer supported Nixon/Lodge, the actual president elect of the 1960 election.

Are there any more examples of this ?

Boomer range 1947-1964.

I was just understanding politics about age 10.

My parents were democrats. I wasn’t.

That’s fine, but it is a fact that Boomers as a generation are responsible for some of the worst legislation ever seen in this country.

I think that could apply to ANY generation.

What is yours responsible for?

Be honest.

Don't worry, subsequent generations will have their chances to screw up royally. Considering that many of them think doing things like eating Tide pods is a good idea, we're in for quite a ride.

The problem with that assertion is that the Boomers in Congress just won’t *leave*. Statistically, they’ve held on to power longer than any prior generation.

Also - Tide Pods are embarrassing but they tend to immediately eliminate the idiot consuming them. Boomers, on the other hand, often think it’s a great idea to have unprotected sex and share needles since they’re retirees and end up spreading disease that causes long lingering deaths. IIRC, the top three communities in the US for AIDS spread per capita are Boomer retirement communities in Florida.

“The 6-3 ruling, with the court’s conservative justices in the majority…”

I’m trying to recall the last time a (lousy) SCOTUS ruling was credited to the court’s “liberal judges.”

Nope. Look at the makeup of Congress - majority geriatric Boomers. Can’t get anything done against that.

Time marches on.

I’m just saying Boomers had nothing to do with the 60’s crap.

Of course Congress will be of that age unless your loving some AOC in your soup.

1. I’m not a millenial.
2. There actually are plenty of conservative millennials. These are the people (along with angry Gen Xers) tossing out the old go-along-get-along Boomers at the state level of the party. There’s been articles posted here confirming that.
3. In Texas, it was Boomers (not exclusively, mind) who were resisting Constitutional Carry and it was the younger sets pushing for it. Go look at the videos of open carry demonstrations in Austin for the past couple sessions. Not a lot of Boomers, TONS of Gen X and Millennials.

I didn’t say the Boomers had anything to with the 60s legislation. I’m just saying they made things worse in many ways later on. :P
