I passed that spot at least twice a day when the Big A was the mayor. Worked at 970 broad. I never believed a drug user and bum would be so honored. A proper statue of him would be in a garbage truck hauled away. I was born in newark to boot. I hope for you the Passaic river remains a boundary!!

The Passaic River moat is generally still effective. Harrison has seen a ton of development near its PATH station, and the Newark Dem gibsmedats were furious that it wasn’t done just a little further west near their PATH station - it is a different town AND county, so they can’t get their cut.
Outside of a transit hub and airport, there is nothing there; I remember when the mayor tried to stop people from referring to airport as “Newark Liberty” because he knew eventually it would just be “Liberty”...
