I don’t know about you but I cant recall three storms before July1.!! This is the first real storm. Ana was subtropical. Bill was a mesoscale wave, not a tropical storm. The easy way to tell they are naming more storms is that a smaller percentage of these "tropical storms" are turning into hurricanes. There's no physical explanation other than they are assigning more names to junk storms.

If I am not mistaken, do not most early and late season storms originate in the gulf, with the mid season monsters rolling off the west coast of Africa?

It’s a good rule of thumb to expect GOM storms any time during the season. Cape Verde storms heat up late July-Sept., when humidity and wind shear are most favorable for development.

*sigh* Here we go. We’ve gotten enough rain in the last week and a half to hold us for a while. Hopefully I get on the new riding mower long enough to get the basics done tomorrow.

Doing well here. Getting trees trimmed for storm season. Sea grapes are too tall and near some lines. Hope you are well as we enter the silly season.
