Strong winds is an act of God. I can’t see how the could win, but then again In America today we elect a senile old guy as our leader so anything can happen.

The National Park Service almost certainly has sovereign immunity in this case.

The manufacturer of the gate and/or contractor who installed it may have a problem here, but even in that case they sure as hell don't have $270 million of liability insurance coverage.

I predict someone's insurance carrier is going to write a check for several million dollars, and that will be the end of this lawsuit.

“Strong winds is an act of God.”

These third world foreigners sure learn American grifting fast! Next thing you know they’ll be suing Florida for death and injuries caused by hurricanes.

We didn’t elect a senile old guy as our leader, but TPTB installed one after cheating.

If you have a large tree on your property that you know or should know is dead which blows down during a storm and kills someone, you are going to be held liable.

If there was in fact a requirement that the gate be secured - presumably to protect against this very thing - and it was not secured the US could certainly be held liable (subject to a potential sovereign immunity defense, however).
