> No thanks. I buy only American made vehicles. <
I hear you. But I’m having a tough time finding a good American-made small truck (and it gotta be small). I won’t buy one made by a foreign company. At least with the Ford Maverick the profits are going to America.
As you know, Trump was trying a carrot-and-stick approach to get those factories back to America. No way did the one-world traitors want that. So of course Trump had to go.

Buy a used 1970-79 F-150 pickup and put about 10K into restoring it. It will be worth more in the long run.

That tax is more than just un-Kramerican. It’s outrageous, egregious, preposterous.

Especially since the Transit Connects are good sellers for Ford.
Try finding a 2021 on a lot right now.

Tariffs are the only taxes allowed in the original Constitution. The founders knew what they were doing...

They bolted some seats into the cargo compartment of a cargo van and called it a passenger van.
Subaru did the same thing in the '80s with their Brat to circumvent a tariff on imported pickups.

Ford wasn’t dishonest. They found a legal way around the tax.
Deep State didn’t like it.

Ford’s Europe division had some real winners. Some of them would make the Mustang II look good. Although I do sometimes wonder how the Escort would have done if it were sold here instead of the Pinto (1972 1.1L Escort shown below) . . .

I believe the Bundy kids had to keep a chicken in their car in order to afford agricultural insurance rates. It worked until Al found the chicken.

Agreed. Why can’t people get this?
They only worry about who turns a screw, not who designed it or who bankrolls it and profits.
MITI and the Jap gov profit from all their cars. It doesn’t matter that some few people get to turn a screw on them in TN.

Agreed in principle. However, if they removed the seats from 100% of the vehicles before they hit the lot, it’s hard cost than to say they weren’t cheating. What they should have done was sell them on the lot with the seats still in, then either make it a deduct to take the seat out or offer to buy the seats back from the buyer.

Toyota and Nissan did the same thing when they used to import their trucks... they brought them in as cab and chassis and installed the pickup beds Stateside.
To: Still Thinking
Deep State should have written the law and or regs better.
This decision, to ream Ford a new one with the fine, only benefits Deep State.
Ford had already decided to move production to Hermosillo thanks to the USMCA.

You’re not aware of Ford declaring only doing truck-based vehicles from now on?

I did hear about that. Trucks and SUV’s. Now that Biden is office, high gas prices might force some cars to be made after all. Cars don’t make sense when SUV’s are almost as fuel efficient.
I just wanted to see a re-creation of the Crown Victoria. I would have opted for a small SUV when it comes time to buy one.
