For them, it's literally like working in a war zone. Imagine coming to work every night knowing that you will get multiple gunshot wounds before your shift is over.

My daily carry is a .40 Ruger SR40 with a Galloway Smooth Trigger upgrade. I don’t leave home without it. Fortunately I got a deal on 2k worth of ammo before this round of ammo shortage began.
I have a very fun, customized by my grandfather, a 6.5 X 55 Swedish Mauser that I have 20 rounds for and can’t seem to find ammo anywhere. This will end soon I hope.
This will not be in the evening news because there is no Whitey around to blame.

The interesting thing about how many shootings happen in Chicago and how many die is that some of the ER Doctors do come from the military and spent time-saving lives in Iraq & Afghanistan.
Conversely, I've read articles in the past that due to the high level of shootings in cities like Chicago, field medics in foreign conflicts do in fact train in cities like Chicago (and other places) to get experience prior to deployment.
It's sort of a "win-win" in a twisted contorted kind of way.
