I can’t think of a more stupid way to throw away money. This project has been an absolute DISASTER and needs to be defunded immediately. It was a pet project of idiot governor Gerry Brown: “I like trains”
Who would EVER take a train (it won’t be high speed) - to get from one end of the state to the other?
Southwest does a great job of that, cheaply and quickly.

I can’t believe this is back on the table. What a waste of money. The Biden Administration is destroying every good thing Trump accomplished. It’s remarkable how tenuous our stability was. Four years of MAGA progress is now in the trash heap. Can you imagine what our country will look like by 2024?

That's the main problem right there. It is of no use to the majority of Californians. Not only that, the "high-speed" rail trains will impede transit corridors in the SF Bay Area and LA regions because they share the same right-of-way as regular commuter and freight trains.
In SF, the money already earmarked for the high-speed train station was diverted to build a park atop the Transbay terminal building (which had budget shortfalls); the train station is currently a big hole in the ground and will require many billions of dollars to create. This whole project is a disaster that will never be completed and will continue to suck money from taxpayers for decades.
The left believes in the law of economic ruin.
That $929M will build one more mile of this atrocity.
