If the NYT is saying they aren’t then we can be assured they are.
Throw a rock over a fence and the dog that yelps is the one that got hit. When they react to something nobody claimed, then you know they are guilty as sin.
Except... somebody DID claim it.
(Not that such makes the Times less deserving of scrutiny, but, here, 1/2 million sharks out of likely over a hundred million killed by humans anyway (per year, likely mostly for food?) seems rather inconsequential.)
Heck, create shark farms if need be.
