My dad was a professional restorer and always said the same thing. He did several cars for Bill Harrah who didn’t care about cost.
I love doing the work and quit looking at receipts a long time ago, all it does is scare the hell out of you.
There is a new process by
Spectrachrome which is sprayed
on. When done correctly, you
can’t tell the difference.
Best chrome I ever saw was on the headlight rim on my Dad’s ‘42 Chevy truck.

If you weren’t in the Navy, that is Cultural Appropriation.
I saw that being done they even have black chrome paint but it won’t last very long need special care.
Kind of chrome on plastic parts.
Good Lord! I said I liked chrome bumpers and suggested parking 20 feet back and you have a tantrum.
I’ll park 25 feet back from you.
Que Pasa? We already there.

I was in the aircraft industry. Everything possible to kill the related businesses is being done. Let California die for all I care.
All the trailer hitches have been safe since she moved to DC.
“hex-chrome” is a hexavalent material. It has been banned in the EU for more than a decade.
Sometimes referred to as “dichromate,” this is not the silver colored chrome plating that decorates many objects.
Alright ISWYDT.. Willie Nelson in the Movie about letting a horse go...:-)
LOL! Sorry. I didn’t have it in “tantrum” gear when I wrote it.
Your experience is pretty universal across the whole driving populace, and my “oughta be banned” query was to emphasize the absurdity of the present government proposal by posing an absurd question.
Reminds me how there’s no “tone of voice” in this medium and means of carrying it across textually aren’t nearly as successful.
Interesting note about how far back to stop, tho; I’ve actually stopped shorter, or crept up closer to cars to try to get outta the solar glare. Having big sun visors has occasionally proved to be a plus.
True, and rear window glare can be about the worst. Sometimes large glass buildings are awful but not much to do about that but squint!
Their demo shows it being sprayed
on a steel bumper. Don’t know about
the durability, but it looks like
the real thing.
Interesting that Amazon delivery trucks are painted depression blue.
Nevada will be most pleased. They will welcome his company,
My cousin had a very successful business in Truckee, California. He made the motherboards for the gaming industry in Nevada. He wanted to expand his business. He became bogged down in red tape and regulations of California. He moved to Nevada. Nevada did everything they could to assist his move. They made it easy.
He took his essential personnel with him. The non essential lost their jobs.
I’ll have to consult my personal way back machine, but there is some place where there is a curved glass and steel building where the Sun, at some positions in the sky, creates a focal zone on the ground that, while not hot enough to start anything on fire, elevates the air temperature up close to 200 degrees. Again, I’ll have to look it up cuz it’s been awhile, but an architectural oversight like that pretty much dwarfs anything I’ve encountered on the road.
