He not only fights for the right ideology but his tactics are what I approve. It seems to me that Trump enters every potential relationship as win-win with rules both sides can agree upon. So he starts in good faith but if the other side refuses to play by the same rules, he is not hesitant to respond in kind. That is what distinguishes him from Republican squishes who virtuously stand on “principle” while losing bigly on substance, time after time. Bite Trump once and he will bite back, harder.
Neither could 2008 Obama. Biden couldn’t either in 2016 until the media banded together and ‘personality culted’ him.
Ronald Reagan would not run as a Republican now.
