At least 38 people were killed at overcrowded festivities in northern Israel, according to Israeli ambulance service Magen David Adom estimates. Dozens are injured, with 6 in critical condition, 18 in serious condition, 2 in moderate condition and 39 sustaining light injuries.

Just horrible, this is a yearly event but last year was canceled due to the China virus..one of the worst tragedies to hit Israel in a long time prayers for all that have been killed and injured
Lag Ba’Omer they go have bonefires and also go to the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai mostly Hassic Jews go to this celebration its in Mount Meron

Unfortunately, this may not be the last ‘spontaneous stampede’ we hear about. At least not for a year or two.
This tragedy may have been set into motion by the end of strict Lockdowns due to COVID. Something similar is happening in England as well. People are in a frantic rush to resume their normal life styles.
I am not much of a group person or one to be normally drawn to big crowds, but most people are. Being cooped up for a year was not natural to them in any way.
It’s as though some sort of war had just been declared over.
Also reminds me of Hillsborough, when 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death as a soccer match was going on.
This is why the fire codes have strict occupancy limits for public events and venues. People think it’s a joke until some tragedy like this happens. Whenever you are in a crowded event, take note of where the alternate exits are. While all the panicked people are trying to squeeze out of the same door they came in, you’ll have a better chance of survival.

Israel had 1 COVID-19 death in the entire country yesterday. 2 the day before. As terrible as this tragic loss of life is, it’s evidence that overcrowded events can proceed just as they used to once the population is vaccinated. COVID-19 is over in Israel. They’re back to normal now.
