Plenty.
Daily cases are ~22k out of 102 million under the age of 25 which is 0.021% of that population.
Hard to believe you’ve seen many die given an average case fatality of 0.018% for those less than 25 YO.

Sarcasm I suppose. Regardless, high risk of serious illness is not exactly a statistical record of death.
The exponential mortality curve doesn’t really amount to much until one’s mid 50s.

I’m with you on that.
The at risk people were prioritized for vaccine. When eligibility was opened to all adults, that meant that the priorities were (or could be) taken care of. Hospitals would not be overwhelmed, death rates would be down below other diseases (like flu), for which we would not shut things down.
That was the original justification for lockdowns. Keeping restrictions much longer is unjustifiable (except for a few hotspots, like Michigan). A few more weeks of cases trending down, should break the remaining support for restrictions.
I think Dem Governors are scared by Gavin Newsom’s recall. Lockdowns are unpopular, and they are hurting their polling.
I’m afraid that Mexico, like much of the rest of the world, has not yet provided vaccine protection to most of their elderly. So high case numbers there will likely come with attendant high hospitalization and death numbers.
The USA is among the top five in the world for that (Israel is first). After June, I expect that we will transition into a large vaccine exporter, to help stamp out these outbreaks around the world (and reduce the breeding of new variants).
