The Roman Empire split into East and West, and shortly thereafter, the West collapsed. Could we also be seeing a scenario where the US splits into a North and South, one of which will soon collapse?
And the Eastern Empire lasted a thousand more years, I don’t think we will.
I don’t foresee an actual split. But I do see a “loosening” of the bonds that hold us together. Under the 10th Amendment, states can resist or abandon Federal regulation to better serve the wishes of their citizens.
