“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul,” Nelson Mandela famously said, “than the way in which it treats its children.”
Not sure Mandela said this. He was a communist, and thus anti-family. The first hits on most search engines for this quote send one to places like Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and even Fakebook.
Either way, starting off by invoking Mandela turned me off the rest of the piece.
