Fossil fuels are cleaner than most previous sources of work and power. 1 horse power? How much hay does 1 horse eat and how much crap does 1 horse deposit. How many dead horses would pile up? You can’t go 60 MPH no matter how many horses you have.
The writer does have a good idea about sailboats. A truly green government would insist that all governmental transgenic travel be on wind-powered vessels.
They want to bring back windmills and trains for all the peons, let the bigshot greenies travel on sailboats and solar-powered aircraft. Not in 50 years, but right now.
