"60 Minutes" history of lying that goes back far-far before that. In 1969 they interviewed a GM executive about Corvair safety issues. They actually altered the tape of the questions that were asked during the interview to make the answers appear to be the opposite of what was actually meant.
I worked for GM at the time, and GM made it a policy to never again do an interview with them, unless GM would also tape the interview. CBS never agreed to that, and you have never seen an interview with GM since then on the show.
Since that episode, I have only watched "60 Minutes" once. It was the interview with Rush Limbaugh. He had his own much larger audience than they did, so they didn't dare to alter it. You can assume: If it's 60 Minutes, it's a lie.
