There are growing signs that parts of the country may be close to meeting demand for the coronavirus vaccine — well before the U.S. has reached herd immunity.
Why it matters: For the last few months, the primary focus of the U.S. has been getting shots to everyone who wants them, as quickly as possible. Soon, that focus will abruptly shift to convincing holdouts to get vaccinated.
State of play: Red states in the South are administering the lowest portion of the vaccine doses that they receive from the federal government — a sign of low demand, slow public health systems, or both.
The most vaccine-reluctant Americans are white Republicans, polling has found.

More so than “white male Republicans” IMO [I don’t have actual numbers to back that up]. Anecdotally, I know quite a few, including a couple of black RNs at the doctors’ offices.
I empathize given history (Tuskegee experiment) — and even though it’s fashionable to label “white evangelicals” as a socio-economic group rather than a faith....they fail to mention how many black Americans are also practicing Christians and don’t subscribe to all of woke-ism.
America has figured out that the risk form China virus was way oversold.

A fact that is totally ignored .... on purpose.
Personally, I think “white Republicans” should be flattered by the frequent call out for being “resisters” to the orthodoxy of mass administration of an experimental drug based on a failed technology that has already reached historic numbers of VAERS “adverse events” reports and “death after vax” incidents.
What is telling, though, is that while the author is pointing out that it looks like they are running out of willing participants he avoids attributing it to those surprisingly negative VAERS stats which undoubtedly play a big role.

I think part of the slower inoculation pace among rural residents has been convenient availability. It wasn't until last week that a nearby CVS had availability for the wife and me. Getting vaccinated just wasn't a high enough priority such that we were going to make two trips to a government mass vaccination site miles away.
I'm sorry to hear that. I've been trying to be less white, and have stepped out of the vaccine line, making room for a minority to take my place.
If all who want the vaccine get it then why would they whine about those who don’t want it at all?
If you get the shot you are immune so why do they even care if I get it?

Question: Those who have contracted the virus are carrying the anti-bodies. So if almost two million have been vaccinated and several million more have tested positive with the virus, would the sum total be sufficient to lift the nation out the pandemic status???

Great job of what? Scaring people to take an experimental shot while the virus is 99.5 percent survivable? The vaccine campaign has been massive, the whole Covid flu is sinister at best.
