When launching a brand, even one as buzzworthy as Rivian, it helps to provide consumers with some peace of mind. The electric automaker is gearing up to launch its first two models—the R1T pickup truck and the mechanically similar R1S SUV—and both will come standard with one of the longest warranty coverage terms in the auto industry at eight years or 175,000 miles. The current industry standard for battery warranties is eight years or 100,000 miles.

The long warranty coverage is specific to the trucks' battery pack and drivetrain components. That much coverage should help early adopters of the upstart brand feel secure in their decision, but it's important to remember that key rival Tesla offers similar coverage with unlimited mileage.

AAA charging trucks can provide a 15 mile charge. Probably going to need a bit more than that here in west Texas.

You have to hand it to the designers at Tesla and now Rivian - these are some of the best looking cars and pickups I’ve ever seen, and that’s been a big part of Tesla’s success to date.

“AAA charging trucks can provide a 15 mile charge.”

There are several companies that offer portable EV chargers to roadside Tow services, including to AAA. They can also be carried in an EV as an emergency charger. Here is one:

For a mere $88,800 I can get a new fishing truck. Maybe I’ll get two.

And buy one of these:

Not necessary. The Blink charger is fueled by gasoline and is portable. Just carry that along with a 5-gallon gas can. It only costs around $6500.

Their pickup looks like our Honda Ridgeline.

We just got a $60 rebate on our vehicle insurance due to low mileage since the Covid shut downs/ins.

If the company goes belly up your 175,000 mile warranty is kaput.

That Tesla truck is literally bullet proof to 9mm at point blank range, including the window glass. There are areas that feature would be really useful.
