Here We Go – American Airlines Slams Texas Election Integrity Legislation
Hot Air ^ | April 2, 2021 | Karen Townsend

Georgia is not the only state working on legislation to improve election integrity. Texas made a step in the right direction on Thursday when the state Senate approved legislation that would ban mail-in drop boxes and most drive-thru voting. The bill, SB7, was passed on a party-line vote. The criticism of the bill is along party lines, too. The Texas State Senate approved the legislation on April 1, a measure that Republicans say “ensures election integrity,” while Democrats say it’s voter suppression and makes it harder for people with disabilities and ethnic minorities to vote. SB7 passed on a vote of 18-13. It now goes to the Texas House of Representatives. Committee hearings are scheduled for April 6. There were seven hours of debate in the Senate. The bill also limits early voting hours and makes it illegal for local election officials to proactively send applications to vote by mail to voters, even if they qualify.

Depending on your politics and serving the Marxist narrative, you literally do NOT need ID to fly on American Airlines.

Aside from virtue signalling, what standing does an airline have in a vote integrity discussion?

Yeao...I have no problem with Biden’s proposal to raise the corporate income tax. These corporations have chosen sides now make them suffer.

The airlines are so woke they are taking "No ID" govt vouchers instead of issuing tickets to migrants.

No ID, no Covid test? no problem!

You can be pro-business, and still detest these multinational corporations. This article reminds that a locally charter service is advertising their flight availability. Their prices are competitive with the airlines, so I think that Mom and Pop air is the way to go. Screw the MegaCorps.

Time to follow Georgia and revoke any tax breaks they may be getting from Texas.

Back in the 1980s, Delta Airlines was involved in a lawsuit against the U.S. Government. Suddenly, all sorts of bad stories about Delta were showing up in the press, with incidents such as Delta pilots landing their planes at the wrong airports and so on.

GA and TX can make what they will of that.

I was pretty pro-business in my youth but now they are the enemy.

We’ve entered a form of fascism - the partnership of big business and government. Statist, all-encompassing, social-engineering Government gets political support and business gets monopolistic rights, privileges, capital, etc... Its something that developed over decades here.

The USA will need to undergo a sort of de-nazification eventually.

Me too. That was back when it was virtuous to be anti-business.

That is a textbook example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

NO TAXES to this illegal government! These wokesters WANT to pay more taxes to this illegal government.

Now, don’t fly American Airlines, is the only sensible response.

“Why airlines want to get involved in slinging mud over state legislation is beyond me. Voting laws have nothing to do with their operations. This is simply virtue-signaling to appease leftist activists who race-bait and divide us for profit. “

This has everything to do with business. Airlines, insurance companies, banks, other financial institutions, radio and TV stations, all operate on a US government license. Without that license, they are out of business.

The handwriting is clearly on the wall. Either you are with us, (the socialists in charge) or you are against us. So, all of the above are positioning themselves to be on the side of big government. And, that means supporting every Democratic party platform issue regardless of how stupid it may be. This is very like the businesses in Germany around 1934. Certain types of socialism allow the companies to continue operating under their original owners and others simply take the businesses. The people running businesses are trying really hard to guide the government into leaving them in charge. They will also find women, people of color, and trans...people to put in prominent positions and highly compensated positions to signal they are fully on board.

American Airlines is welcome to not fly into Houston and Dallas. They can put their money where their mouth is.
