Guess you have a short memory - one of the obvious things he can do is announce that any pistol with an attached 'brace' is an illegal short-barrelled rifle (SBR). And ATF can announce that "once an illegal SBR, always an illegal SBR", and maybe also announce that any pistol that can be "easily converted" to an SBR will be treated as an illegal SBR (any of that language sound familiar?). So even AR pistols that have never been equipped with braces will suddenly become 'contraband', just like bump stocks. ATF never worries about reversing direction, if they think it's expedient - "Honey Badger", here we come...
Apparently his EOs (scheduled for tomorrow) will include:
"The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act."
So large handguns are definitely one of their targets...
