1) The people controlling the world want the population to continue to grow because capitalism is essentially a Ponzi scheme that requires an ever-growing number of consumers and producers at the bottom to keep the top from toppling. That is why the elites are currently encouraging mass migration into the West because of declining birth rates among the citizens.

2) The people controlling the world want the population to crash because they want the world for themselves and believe that most work can be done by robots and they don't want to pay billions of people to sit around and either do nothing or start stirring up trouble.

Which is it?
