Dan Sullivan says he’ll support fellow Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski if she runs for reelection

Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan of Alaska committed on Sunday to supporting Sen. Lisa Murkowski, the state’s other GOP senator, should she decide to mount a reelection bid next year, giving the moderate lawmaker another ally as top party leaders pledge to oust her.

“If Sen. Murkowski runs again, I’m going to support her,” Sullivan told ABC News in an interview, noting that the two senators “don’t agree on everything, but we make a good team for Alaska.”

“When I ran in 2014 and beat a Democrat incumbent and we got the Senate majority back, Sen. Murkowski was a strong supporter of mine. And in 2016 I supported her. And just in my reelection in 2020, where, you know, the national Democratic Party came in big in Alaska, massive amount of money, Sen. Murkowski was a strong supporter of mine and we won that reelection very strongly,” he said.

They've all gotten their office meeting with Mitch McConnell.

They're circling the wagons to protect their Democrat helpmate.

If allowed, I’m betting on Murkowski and McConnell. Last I heard they count the ballots.

You are stuck with Senator Sullivan until 2026. At that point, you can primary the guy and send him home.

Sen. Murkowski was a strong supporter of mine.

One hand washes the other.

How about just seeing the voters as your potential supporters? Shouldn't that matter? Is it really all that important that she supports him? And if that matters a great deal, isn't that a problem? They aren't there for each other. They are there for us.

So not surprised.

Sad thing is the Dems will take Senatorial seats in Ak. Do you think Lisa cares?

Sullivan doesn't impress Alaskans in the manner Palin once did.

Only 700,000 people up here. Cost effective to spend money on elections and the dems do spend the bucks up here. Some real lefties been running year after year for these seats and getting name recognition; very bad sign.

As much as I detest Lisa; (I have oust Murkowski bumper stickers on my trucks for years) she might be an evil reality.

People use their purity test saying, I will NOT support the Republican unless he says xyz. I will not vote for someone just because he is less evil than the other guy. The only two Republicans I pulled the lever for because I wanted them were Reagan and Trump.

For now, proforma. Let’s see how much he campaigns for her while Trump is up in Alaska supporting her primary opponent. Murkowski lost the primary last time and won as a write-in.

How much campaign $ are they both taking from the mining industry for the coming rare earth mineral boom in Alaska. How many distant or close relatives are tied to that industry....

People REALLY overestimate the strength of conservatism in AK. AK is not the homeland of rugged individualism it pretends to be. With 189K votes, Trump only won 52% of the vote there.

To put that in perspective, he did 6-points better in UT. Look at the idiot UT voters sent to represent them in DC.

Didn’t Sullivan lose to her after beating her in the primary and then somehow, she won on write-in ballots. A majority of which had so many things wrong with them, they shouldn’t have been counted.

And, if possible, can anyone provide info on someone else that loses a primary but then wins by write-ins, especially for US Senate?

And because of all the things shows that romanticize living up there, if I’m not mistaken there are a fair amount of libs moving up there. Although, my nephew who was at Wainwright, says most of them don’t last in any places other than Anchorage. The rest of the state is still a little too rough for them.

Politicians do what is important to them personally.

I am not sure why readers don’t understand this. It is the primary reason we need term limits.
