Recent figures indicate cases are rising among secondary school pupils in England
Independent SAGE – a group of scientists publishing advice for the UK government – has warned about rising cases of covid-19 among children in England, since the reopening of schools on 8 March. The latest results from a random swab testing survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that coronavirus infection levels among children aged 11 to 16 have risen slightly in England, with 0.43 per cent of secondary school age children testing positive in the week ending 20 March compared to 0.31 per cent the previous week. “What has to be understood is that the new variants are harder to control and it seems likely that the limited reopening of schools has started to show up in the data,” said James Naismith at the University of Oxford in a statement.
Overall, the percentage of people testing positive for the virus appears to have levelled off in England, the ONS analysis found. But there are signs that a decline in new covid-19 cases across the UK as a whole is slowing. The latest official estimate for the UK’s R number – the average number of people each coronavirus case infects – puts it between 0.7 and 0.9, up slightly from between 0.6 and 0.9 the previous week and from between 0.6 and 0.8 two weeks earlier.

Health officials in Germany have warned that the third wave of coronavirus infections in the country will be “harder to curb” than the previous two. Lothar Wieler, head of Germany’s Robert Koch Institute, warned that Germany could see as many as 100,000 new infections a day without any intervention. Wieler was speaking at a press conference on 26 March, alongside Germany’s health minister Jens Spahn. “At the moment, the figures are rising too fast and the variants are making the situation especially dangerous,” said Spahn. “If this continues unchecked, we run the risk [that] our health system could reach its breaking point in April,” he added.
9:30 a.m. China reports 11 new cases for Thursday, in line with the previous day. All of the new cases originated from overseas. The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed cases, rose to 31 from 10 cases a day earlier.

The record caseload, along with 2,777 more COVID-19 deaths, comes a day after Brazil surpassed 300,000 fatalities. Brazil’s outbreak has set weekly records due to a patchy vaccine rollout, a lack of national coordination and an infectious new variant.
5:09 p.m. The Philippines logs 8,773 new infections, a record high. This brings the total number of cases to 693,048 with 13,095 deaths, including 56 new recorded fatalities.

I understand your frustration. It is in fact a frightening scenario unfolding. All this pressure on us to wear masks, close business, limited capacity, social distancing and a dementia President who screams pandemic at us and yet opens the damn border!
As cruel as it may sound, send the darn kids back. If their parents were so negligent as to send them here, they took a bad risk with their lives.
I think the news from the UK is complete BS. The “scientific” community and the media have proven themselves to unreliable and outright liars.
Fake news using bad data. The original data report states “the number of samples is small”. The number of children tested would be even smaller yet. The projection for children is that less than one in two hundred will test positive. Such a small number from an even smaller number is not worth even mentioning.
It’s very likely that last week two children tested positive, and this week three did. Projecting from numbers like that is not science, it’s witchcraft.

They had a positive test at my granddaughters school in Stowmarket, UK the other day. Everyone in the class where the positive was had to go home and self isolate. They tested him again, it came out negative and everyone was back the next day.
And this case, the word scientist equals “highly credentialed but not necessarily intelligent information warfare specialist.”

Those kids catching it will get natural immunity.
Just over 100 children under age 15 died from COVID-19 in 2020. A total of 186 flu related pediatric deaths had been reported to CDC during the 2017-2018 season.
Will the panic never stop? Will common sense once again prevail?
"Cases" in the first context amount to nature's own immunization plan. The plan that over countless millennia has permitted humanity (and all species) to survive and thrive against viruses and bacteria that would make Covid-19 hide under its bed in terror.
And on a side note, does anyone in the general press have the balls to point out that all this demonstrates the grand quarantine/mask/social distancing experiment has utterly failed?
