We’re in a bizarro, dystopian country now. Every night, TV news rails against the phantom of white supremacy... and the specter of the Trump administration. The new bogeyman of anti-Asian hate crimes is regularly and matter-of-factly attributed to Donald Trump saying “China virus,” despite such crimes typically involving little more than garden-variety street crime committed by “people of color.”

Arquette is a symptom of the trajectory we are currently on. The witch hunt against Trump went its due course without anyone pumping the brakes, devoid of any resulting consequences against the perpetrators. That gave encouragement and the green light to engage the same strategy against the rest of us. Arquette is following the pack, telegraphing what is in the works for dissidents.
