Gov Noem is not gaining any friends in her actions to effectively veto this bill.

Noem's spin calling her actions as only 'style and form' is not fooling anyone.

She’s doing her best to keep those potential corporate donors on her side for a future POTUS campaign.

Hard decisions like this separate the wheat from the chaff. Noem appears to be the chaff. Trump is still the 2024 GOP front-runner, as he has always been. We will see who else in the GOP crowd distinguishes themselves. Noem is done.

In ten years anyone not supporting Trannies in female sports will be called a bigot and even “conservative Republicans” will attack you. They did the same thing with faggot “marriage”

To end guys in women sports, I suggest allowing NBA players to play in the WNBA. That would be amusing

I’m still trying to figure out why anyone would need a state law to keep boys out of girls sports. Isn’t this what school boards and sports governing bodies are supposed to do?

There’s a link to the actual letter.

If SD colleges and unis are governed by the State Board of Regents, then they are NOT exempt.

No spin; and Gov. Noem has not sold out women’s sports.

Take the bill, place that in Florida, from the Florida State Legislature to Gov. DeSantis.

He writes the same letter to the legislature, returning the bill to them, for reconsideration.

The Florida problema and the South Dakota problem are the same.

One issue, is national competition at the collegiate level. The existing bill would likely halt that. How will Floridians and their collegiate sports programs react?

Another issue, is that the bill - if signed - ends up before the US Supreme Court.

Then, you will have the USSC legislating the matter, from the bench . . . or, is it better to keep the legislative matter in-state(?) - and that is the view of Gov. Noem, for the moment.

In-state, and under the control of the state, Gov. Noem’s legal advisors (they studied the problem for almost 3 months), believe that the matter overall, is best kept in-state.

Thus, she chose ground where that can best be defended; and thus, her letter to the SD legislature.

I think we have supported corporate Republicans and Democrats long enough. We supported all of their tax cuts deregulation and subsidies etc etc etc and what do we get in return? If they are to get anything else from us they have to change. If they do not change then we should show that we can “work with the Democrats to get things done” by helping to raise their taxes and fight every little agenda that they have.

And to think, I had so much hope for her because she had done many things so well. But this one, much like unborn child murder, is a 100% drop-dead NO excuse topic for me.

What was the vote count when the bill was passed by the legislature? Was the margin of victory enough to override the governor’s quasi veto?

Why do corporations want transvestites interfering with the childhoods of little girls? Bizarre.

So the first thing she wanted changed would have set up a system where people would need to PROVE they are one sex or the other and the other would have set up “reparations” for anyone who felt they were discriminator against...

But we WANT kids to undergo genetic screening and give government payouts to anyone who thinks they are “aggrieved”?

I’m getting some mixed signals here.

“Noem’s spin calling her actions as only ‘style and form’ is not fooling anyone.”

That’s almost worst than wanting to gut the bill - spinning it by thinking her base (i.e., us) are a bunch of idiots.

I can see dropping the higher education part. The students are adults and get to choose what university to go to.

>>required students to annually verify their age, biological sex based on genetics and reproductive biology, and attest that they had not taken performance-enhancing drugs, including anabolic steroids, in the preceding 12 months. <<

Annually verifying your age seems kind of stupid too. Just add a 1 to last year’s age daah.

Verifying sex based on genetics and reproductive biology? Every year? For what? To see if they had a sex change? Most never go through all that. They just call themselves girls. Seems like an invasion of privacy too. Have them sign something that says their a biological female. The truth will come out in the locker room or something anyway. The other kids will find out somehow.

Genetically? What are they going to do? Take a DNA sample every year?

I don’t have a problem with what Noem is doing. As long as there’s a law that says boys can’t play in girl’s sports, that’s all that’s needed. A birth certificate is required to get into school so the school knows their DOB and all that yearly testing stuff will open things up for law suits.

Just make the law, no boys in girl’s sports and let the schools and kids handle the rest.

Is this a case of neverNoemers?

I don’t know her full record but she damn sure handled the covid thing like a true conservative. RNC/GOP doesn’t like people like that.

The issue is not “women’s sports”.

The issue is, can you be made to profess that 2+2=5 if the Party says so, and eventually, can you be tortured until you, too, believe it?

She has already ended any consideration of her for national office as a Republican.

There is no recovery from this.
