Delfin Lorenzana, Philippine defence chief, demanded China recall more than 200 fishing vessels, from a South China Sea reef it claims. Mr Lorenzana believes they are armed with militia. China has previously been accused of violating international law in sending its vessels to waters claimed by other Asia-Pacific countries.
The Philippines' coast guard reported around 220 armed fishing vessels were moored at Whitsun Reef, which Manila calls Julian Felipe Reef, on March 7.
Mr Lorenzana issued a statement condemning the presence of the boats in the Philippines-claimed portion of the South China Sea.
He described the their presence as a "provocative action of militarising the area".
The statement added: "We call on the Chinese to stop this incursion and immediately recall these boats violating our maritime rights and encroaching into our sovereign territory."

President Duerte, despite the rant of his Defense chief, has all but conceded those islands and territory to China. In fact it won’t be long before Duerte rents or leases Subic Bay port and what’s left of Clark Airbase to the Chinese. The Chinese are already heavily invested and control much of the timber industry, agriculture and fishing in the Philippines. They need commercial and military port and air facilities in their economic colony. You don’t need “militia” or a military invasion when you can buy off the elite and outright own what you want.

When the Communist Chinese close off the West Philippines Sea, that closes off 1/3 of global shipping.
That also will block off all air travel from the US to anywhere west of the Philippines. Everything will have to be routed over the Atlantic.
