Nope not just CPR, try IV fluids and IV antibiotics. We were told this by the attending physician. He then went on to say that IV fluids do not extend anyones lifespan according to research (his interpretation was true but very misleading). Also DNRs vary from state to state. This particular state was Ohio, the one I saw in Georgia was different.
Now Compassionate Care...is when someone is terminal....We keep them comfortable and maybe the pt. has voiced..they did not want to go on. I've had multiple pt's state this. I've seen pt's refuse dialysis...They just want to end the suffering.
