Pope Francis came out last year in support of civil unions and not religious marriage. I don't think he's going to change on this.

Anyone who claims to be a Christian in any denomination should lose membership status for supporting what God through His word and common sense denounces. Of course, REPENTANCE is an option and the Redeemer still redeems.

I tend to agree. With him, you never know what’s coming. This may simply be strategic, i.e., put out this statement to cover himself before taking some gigantic pro-Sodomite leap (like re-writing the parts of the catechism that the LGBT crowd doesn’t like).
I guess to condone them looks somewhat like they’re throwing in with the pedo wing of the church.
