There is a renewed push to change the name of the Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge back to the Tappan Zee Bridge. A bill to change the name back to Tappan Zee was introduced by Assemblyman Mike Lawler, who represents part of Rockland County.

A petition on change.org to change the name launched back in 2017 by a Westchester man and now has over 150,000 signatures. He says over the last three weeks, coincidentally as sexual harassment allegations against Gov. Andrew Cuomo surfaced, there's been renewed interest in changing the bridge's name. The bridge is named after the governor's father.
Those in favor of the old Tappan Zee name argue it recognizes the true founders of the land - Tappan Native Americans and the Dutch. A state bill to change the name failed to pass back in 2018. Assemblyman Lawler released the following statement:"Last week, I introduced legislation to change the name of the Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge back to its rightful name - the Tappan Zee Bridge.Especially now, in light of the allegations of sexual harassment and appalling conduct of the Governor who bears the same last name, it's clear that we must restore the bridge's original, historical name."

The Tappan were a tribe who lived along the west bank of the Hudson River. Leave it to a phony woke liberal to try to remove a vestige of local Native heritage. Is it the increasingly credible allegations of sex abuse? Or a realization of Killing Fields Cuomo's culpability in the deaths of those nursing home residents during the plandemic?

The Tappan Zee is named for an American Indian tribe from the area called “Tappan”; and zee being the Dutch word for “sea”.

After this episode yes they will change it back.

Tell me about it. I remember when the bridge that connects the New York City borough of Queens to Manhattan along the East River was called the 59th Street Bridge. It then was renamed to Queensborough bridge ( aptly I believe ). It was then renamed to the Ed Koch Bridge. Now, in order to avoid confusion for non- New Yorkers, they call it the LOOONG name of Ed Koch-Queensborough Bridge.

I haven’t lived in a long time. On visits I don’t go up to Rockland County. I’m glad to know ny ers call it the Tappan Zee. So obnoxious to come along and take the name and give it to someone. An abortion promiter. The worst people in history.
