Roger Mudd asked Ted Kennedy about Mary Joe Kopechne during a TV interview while Kennedy was running in the Democratic primary.

Ted Kennedy had no answer prepared, stumbled, looked like an idiot.

That destroyed Kennedy for that election.

It also destroyed Roger Mudd, who was ostracized for wrecking Ted Kennedy’s presidential aspirations.

Mudd was basically blacklisted after that.
