It’s ridiculous that they’re banning face coverings? I read this as a response to Islamic head coverings, not masks for COVID. Why is this ridiculous?

Ridiculous.

I have no problem with the ban and in fact, I consider it a right to be able to see people’s faces when they are in the public arena..... at least for people that I have to deal with. Not hiding one’s face is the first step of establishing the elements of trust in a civil society. There are exceptions to the rule... full faced motorcyclists, welders, hockey and football players, those dealing with extreme cold or other elements etc. but those are all regarded as temporary applications where the face covering is removed when the activity for their purpose is over. If I was asked to do a business deal of some sort with someone who insisted on a face covering .... no way.

What is ridiculous about this ban?
Every civilized country should do the same thing.
