While sales of most Dr. Seuss books have gone through the roof, if you want a copy of one of the six Suess books that have, after all these years, been deemed racist, you won’t be able to buy them cheap. While you can still get a “collectible” edition of the recently canceled Dr. Seuss book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, you’ll have to shell out at least $300 for it through a third-party vendor on Amazon.
But if you happen to have copies of any of the six Seuss books that have been given the axe—And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, If I Ran the Zoo, McElligot’s Pool, On Beyond Zebra!, Scrambled Eggs Super!, or The Cat’s Quizzler—and are looking to cash in on their newfound “canceled” status, you are out of luck.
Earlier today, I was informed that a bid I made on one such Dr. Seuss book was suddenly canceled.
Really @eBay? Really?
Apparently, you can't even buy or sell any of the "canceled" Dr. Seuss books on their platform anymore. pic.twitter.com/6j97jQ5Y3Q

This was no fluke. According to the Wall Street Journal, the offending books are all being delisted from eBay. “EBay is currently sweeping our marketplace to remove these items,” an eBay spokeswoman told the WSJ in an email.
While these Dr. Seuss books are deemed too offensive to be sold on eBay, you can still buy copies of Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf. At the time of this writing, “collectible” editions (people actually collect this book?) are listed as high as $500. Care to explain, eBay?

eBay isn’t a monopoly. There are many other venues to sell stuff on or simply do your own garage sale.
I’d boycot them over this, except I’ve not used eBay for at least 15 years.
We need underground printers to start printing copies of these “subversive” and “banned” Dr Seuss books for sale in back alleys, like they used to do Tijuana Bibles and French Postcards.
I haven’t sold anything on them for about that time length. I do however check things on there for research on prices and other parameters. It’s a useful resource for that. I occasionally buy something but it’s about the rate of once or twice a year now. They already showed their woke stripes a while ago now. This latest outrage is nothing new for them. I only buy from them as a last resort. Same with Amazon.
I don’t like censorship.
I don’t like it here.
I don’t like it there.
I don’t like it anywhere.
Amazon is selling it too, and not only that they are calling it a “#1 bestseller”...

Not to mention, Amazon is okay with all the child-brainwashing transgender books.
I’m stealing that.
I’m getting that way with amazon. Turns out that it’s easier than I expected. It usually even saves you money - with shipping.
I like supporting the individuals who sell on eBay, most are just trying to make some extra cash, some are trying to support themselves. The same is true of the sellers on Amazon. I try to avoid buying directly from Amazon itself.
Both eBay and Amazon sellers have to give a percentage of their sales to those companies, but I think eBay sellers take home about 85% and Amazon sellers maybe a little less. Still, the majority of the money is going to the individual sellers. I have friends who sell on eBay and it’s really important for them.
Bump.
Any idea what they say about Das Kapital and The Communist Manifesto?
We know ebay is not a monopoly. But as a high profile site, their action is newsworthy because they are such a prominent site. And it’s good to call attention to their decision making process. To eBay management, the writings of Hitler are ok, but Dr. Seuss needs to be censored. Let them explain their reasoning.
Still More #ComDem_Insanity!
I guess I haven’t been paying attention. What is it exactly that is deemed so offensive?
I'll bet "Rules For Radicals" is high on their recommended list too.....
Dr. Seuss’s books have been under fire for some time by woke observers, who believe they are not diverse in their presentations. A 2019 report claimed some of the books “feature animal or non-human characters that transmit Orientalist, anti-Black, and White supremacist messaging through allegories and symbolism.”
BTW, to offset some of the wokeness, I had green eggs and ham this morning. ;)
