Soon-to-disappear Dr. Seuss books are now selling for as high as $20K on eBay

In light of newfound censorship of the children's author, some are flocking to eBay, and many purchasers are willing to dole out thousands of dollars to get their hands on what may be the last copies of some of Dr. Seuss's famous books.

Following the announcement that Dr. Seuss Enterprises would stop publishing six of his titles due to claims of racist imagery, owners of the books are scoring potentially big sales on online retailers such as eBay and Amazon.

One of the books, And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street, is going for $20,000 on the retailer's site, with "BANNED" written in the product's title on the website. That copy had received more than 2,200 views per hour.

A copy of Scrambled Eggs Super! is selling for $5,000 and has garnered more than 400 views per hour.

Along with those two titles, the other soon-to-be-banned books include If I Ran the Zoo, McElligot’s Pool, On Beyond Zebra!, and The Cat’s Quizzer.

On Beyond Zebra! was going for hundreds of dollars, as well as The Cat's Quizzer. One seller that had a copy of four of the scorned books is selling a collection for $2,000.

On Amazon, Scrambled Eggs Super! was listed as a bestseller, and used sellers are going for more than $900 for their copies. The other targeted titles ranged between $700 to nearly $1,000 for a used copy.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the company that preserves Theodor Seuss "Ted" Geisel's legacy, said they worked with a panel of experts and educators in making the decision to nix those six titles, citing that the portrayals of some of the characters are "hurtful and wrong."

Some of the public scrutiny includes an illustration in Mulberry Street of an Asian man holding chopsticks and a bowl of rice,

FROM ZEROHEDGE

Shortly after the cancel mob came for Dr. Seuss, several recently banned books began selling for hundreds of dollars on Ebay. For example:

Will woke Ebay allow the auctions to complete?

Meanwhile, one Amazon seller is offering "If I Ran the Zoo" for nearly $1,000:

Six short years ago, former First Lady Michelle Obama read a Dr. Seuss book to a group of school children.

McElligot’s Pool???

What in the name of lily livered leftists are they talking about?

That is probably the most diverse book in existence.

To have a seller you have to have a buyer.

Listing a corn chip for $5,000 means nothing if the sale is never completed.

I have Mulberry Street.

The last page has an Asian man wearing a wicker hat, braided hair, sandals, and eating a bowl of rice with chopsticks. It also has a man wearing a turban riding an elephant.

Cuz ya know... such a caricature is completely ahistorical...

The first editions are worth month because children often treated their books in a childish manner.

There is a scarcity in high grade copies of the first editions.

Subsequent editions are just books. Now out of print books subject to library bans. But patrons would probably have just stolen them now anyway.

Perhaps some lesser known Dr Seuss books... The Cat in the White Sheets, Horton Hears a White Supremacist and Mr Brown Can Read Mein Kampf. (Sarcasm)

You can do a sold search on ebay. Looks like these are selling for a few hundred each. Somebody is going to get caught holding the bag here since these reprints have much less long term value because so many were printed. Gamestop stock comes to mind.

No, sell it now. They printed probaly millions of copies of these books. The price will crash when the hype goes down.

I grabbed a collection of stories this morning on Amazon with three of the banned stories for $45.

No telling if they’ll honor the sale.

I almost expect to be issued a refund.

Let’s hope cancelling Dr. Seuss is a bridge to far the cultural marxists and wakes up sleeping suburbanites.

McElligot’s Pool and Mulberry Street are two of the very best Seuss books for young children. They speak to a child’s imagination, to look for the weird and wonderful in ordinary places.

Children being raised by ignorant single moms often don’t have the vocabulary or the imagination to get the sense of wonder in these books, which is the real reason the morons want them banned. They appeal mostly to more affluent children.

Reminds me of when my friend sold some boxes of Twinkies for hundreds of dollars on eBay in whatever year it was they shut down for a while, only of course for them to come right back. Imagine being the person that paid $150 for a dozen Twinkies.

That is this. Idiots, those actually bidding and paying three or four-digit figures for common books.
