Saw live, that is. I’ve watched a bunch of games on TV, but not for maybe 10 years now.
I haven’t watched a single sporting event in over a year. Maybe two years.
I now spend my spare time playing and building musical instruments, arranging music and watching old movies.
Life is good.
Another factor may be the location of stadiums. Both the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins have downtown Minneapolis stadiums. Downtown Minneapolis with the lack of policing has become a combat zone. Car jackings are especially rampant. COVID lockdowns as well as looting have decimated downtown sports bars and popular pre and post game eateries. Downtown is a waste land. I can’t imagine Vikings or Twins fans being too anxious to attend games when they stand a very good chance of being accosted, mugged or car jacked.
I was watching a PGA tournament after George Floyd's martyrdom. The leader during the 2nd or 3rd round was a black guy named Harold Varner III. The announcer (Jim Nance?) kept trying to get Harold to comment on Floyd's death and to say how it affected him. Harold didn't seem to be affected at all and was obviously getting tired of being singled out as "the black guy" whose opinion everybody wanted.
I could give a rats hind leg for over paid, inarticulate , criminally prone ‘’professional athletes’’.
What I’m pissed about is my high school age grandson can’t play hockey with the high school team. It’s been on hold all year.
